Unit 1 Review: The Sentence

Everything in this unit, from the four kinds of sentences to the comma before but, shows up on one poster. Your job is to fix it.

Lesson Goal

Bring the nine Unit 1 lessons together on one piece of real writing, check which skills hold, and send the student back to the lesson for any that don't.

Key Concepts

Every question here is tied to one Unit 1 lesson, and the hint names it, so a wrong answer is directions to the right page and not a mark against the student.

The poster is the book's own proofreading task. If there's time, print it and have the student mark the errors by hand before reading the fixed version.

The word cards are at the top of this page. Look back at them as often as you need, then answer.

When you finish: write the answers out in your own words — not copied word for word from the choices. Saying it your own way is the part that proves you understood it. Then use Print Answer Sheet for a one-page record of what was answered and scored.
